Congratulations to the Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavs on a thrilling NBA Finals vistory over the Miami Heat. This was a momentous victory for a team laced with NBA veterans who were starved for a championship. More importantly, this was a victory for all decent, respectable, non-Floridians everywhere.

In all honesty, there are probably not a whole hell of a lot of Mavs fans outside of Texas. But for a few magical weeks, we all were Mavs fans. We were all rooting for the German for once. We were all united by our absolute disdain for the new face of evil in the NBA. We all wanted to see Lebron go down in flames, and he did. OH BOY DID HE EVER!!!

So now is a time to soak it all in and enjoy. Enjoy reading over Lebron’s putrid 4th quarter stats. Enjoy watching tape of Chris Bosh crying in the tunnel after the game. Enjoy watching DWade’s infamous fake cough before game 5. Enjoy hearing Lebron say that he is just fine after this crushing defeat, because his life is still great, and our lives still suck.

That’s okay Lebron. Money doesn’t buy rings, and money certainly does not buy class.

Joine me tonight at 9 PM for my NBA Finals recap show.

The NBA playoffs are right around the corner and I feel like its time for me to give my predictions, so let the scrutiny begin. The first round in the Eastern Conference isn’t really as exciting as the West. I have the Bulls, Heat and Magic all coming out with a sweep in their first round matchups. Even though the Magic is playing the fifth seed Hawks they haven’t looked all that good in the stretch and their playoff performances the last few years have been horrid so I see them losing every game my no less than 10 points. The key matchup of the first round is my New York Knicks vs the Boston Celtics. This should be a great series of matchups. I have the Knicks winning 2 games in this series, I just can’t see the Celtics losing in the first round. The second round should be star studded with the Bulls playing the Magic and the Celtics playing the Heat. With the Bulls and Magic series I see the Bulls winning in 6. Dwight Howard performs well in the playoffs, but the Bulls have a lot of size to stabilize him and I just don’t trust the other players on the Magic to come out with wins. Jameer Nelson and Gilbert Arenas aren’t known for their defense and I’m sure Derrick Rose knows this and is ready to exploit them. As far as the Heat and Celtics series goes, I feel like it has to go 7 games just because the basketball Gods will not allow anything less. With the trade of Perkins and the possibility of Shaq not being able to play, plays a big role in this series. The Celtics size was a huge advantage that they had over teams like the Heat and without them I think the matchups favor the boys from Miami. Also, the Heat getting home court advantage will be huge and I think this will be the year that Lebron finally gets passed his rivaled Boston Celtics. This leaves the Bulls playing the Heat for the conference Finals. Last years MVP Lebron James vs. This years MVP Derrick Rose (yes I am calling it now). This series should be intense, two strong defenses going head to head. Even though the Bulls swept the season series all of the games were close and I don’t think the Heat then is the same as they are now. They are looking like they are on a mission and as much as I love Derrick Rose’s game and how tough the Bulls play, I just don’t see Lebron and Dwayne Wade being denied a chance at the Finals. I think this series more than the Celtics series would be Dwayne Wade’s to win. He has the most playoff experience as far as winning out of anyone and he knows what it takes to get it done. This is why I have the Heat winning the East in 2 tough, hard fought series.

With the NBA and NHL season about to wrap up and NFL season on the fritz, It is looking like the MLB is going to be the prime major sport for a while. Tomorrow starts the well anticipated season that should be full of excitement. In the NL the reigning World Series Champs are looking pretty strong and ready for a repeat. This won’t be a easy task with the fire power of the Cardinals and probably the best pitching staff ever assembled in the Phillies. In the AL the Rangers are looking to keep their crown, but they would have to go through the tough AL East again. With the Red Sox new additions of Carl Crawford and Adrian Gonzalez they will be tough to beat and so will the Yankees who are just always stacked with Hall of Fame Caliber players. My early prediction for the World Series are the Phillies vs. Yankees (New York bias)

When the Knicks signed Carmelo everyone thought that this was a start of a new Dynasty. With two of the top five scorers in the league and early wins against teams like the Miami Heat things were looking promising for our good Ole’ Knickerbockers. Since then things started to crumble around them with loses to some of the “bums” of the league such as Indiana (twice), Milwaukee, Detroit and Cleveland (minus Lebron) the Knicks have looked like the Knicks of old. They tend to play better against better teams having leads against better teams like their last two games against Boston and Orlando, but they just can’t finish games out. Their main problem is their lack of defense, in the last 10 games the Knicks are 3-7, giving up an average of 107.4 points per game and dropped down to the seventh seed. With this lack of defense it wouldn’t be a suprise if they drop even lower. With that being said the Knicks do have a chance to redeem themselves by playing 7 “low tier” teams out their last 11 games of the season. Hopefully, they turn things around for the playoffs or its going to be another disapointing season for New York Fans.

As the regular season comes to an end MVP talks start to increase. My clear front runner is Derrick Rose, besides all of the high flying dunks and how foolish makes defenders look on the fast break he has put up some serious numbers this year. Averaging 24.8 points, 7.8 assists and 4 rebounds per game he has proven to everyone that he is well worthy. To go along with his outrageous numbers he has led the Bulls to .5 games above the Celtics in the East. Their 51-19 record is second in the NBA and thats with having their full roster for only 19 games and playing a lot of the games with what we call “mediocre” players. And if all of this isn’t clear evidence then you should look at the last 2 nights where the Bulls handing out two 30+ point spankings.

With the recent news of the Philadelphia Eagles releasing their eight-year franchise RB, Brian Westbrook, a fan seemed to want to get in on a little fun. The crew at SportsCenter thought they were receiving a call from Brian Westbrook in which they quickly aired as a live interview. However, they were very wrong as it was obvious the moment ‘Brian’s’ voice was heard, that is clearly wasn’t him. The very fact that an impersonator was able to penetrate the security systems at SportsCenter is pretty embarrassing. SportsCenter must feel pretty dumb allowing this to happen, but hey, it makes a great story for the fans!

With the trade deadline in the NBA just recently passing, many teams and players were somewhat active, some for the worse and some for the better. Of course you can’t make everyone happy – certain players were probably happy with their departures while others were not as happy with their placements. For the most part this was a pretty active trading session as we usually see a lot of excitement right around the trade deadline. While certain teams such as the Mavs and Cavs have acquired superstar talent for their chance to win the title this year, other NBA teams (such as the Knicks) merely dumped their overpaid players in an effort to free up cap-room for the 2010-2011 season. Building upon the last effects all these trades will have on their respective teams, the fantasy sports fallout will also be significant. For complete analysis, please read our report below:

Main Headlines

The highly anticipated Amar’e Stoudemaire trade did not occur

Caron Butler was traded for Josh Howard

Antwan Jamison was traded to Cleveland

Marcus Camby was traded to Portland

Tracy McGrady has been traded to the Knicks

Kevin Martin has been traded to the Houston Rockets in return

The NY Knicks received Tracy McGrady and Sergio Rodriguez

The Houston Rockets receive Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, Hilton Armstrong and Jared Jeffries

The Sacramento Kings receive Carl Landry, Joey Dorsey and Larry Hughes

The Milwaukee Bucks send Hakim Warrick and Joe Alexnader to the Bulls and receive John Salmons in return, the Bucks also send Jodie Meeks and Francisco Elson to the Philadelphia 76ers for Royal Ivey, Primoz Brezec and a draft pick

The Chicago Bulls trade Tyrus Thomas to the Charlotte Bobcats for Flip Murray, Acie Law and a draft pick
